Attending an NVC Foundation Training will help you to develop clarity concerning the essential concepts and tools used in NVC.  You will also develop a basic level of fluency, which will help you to use Nonviolent Communication effectively in your daily life – professional or personal.  NVC foundation trainings are also a pre-requisite for many of the further Nonviolent Communication skills workshops available in both the UK and worldwide.  We expect you will find attending one challenging, moving, supportive and fun!

NVC Level 1 Foundation Training Timings & Programme Outline:

ONLINE NVC LEVEL 1 FOUNDATION TRAININGS:   When held online, these NVC foundation trainings take place over four half days spanning two weekends.  In the online format, the trainings take place from 9.30am-2pm on the first day, from 9.30am-1.30pm on days two and three, and from 9.30am-2pm on the final day.  Short breaks will be included, resulting in a total of 16 hours training time.

NB.  Day four will consist of individual coaching sessions lasting 45 minutes each. As there will only be sufficient time to coach four participants on this final day and the training will have up to 10 participants, there will be overflow coaching sessions for groups of three on the following weekend after the training ends, from 10am-12.30pm on each day.  Participants will have a choice about which day they have their individual coaching session on and will only be required to attend the day that they are being coached on.  There is also an option of arranging a private one to one 45 minute coaching session with Daren after the training has ended.  Daren will explain more about this at the time of booking and is happy to discuss these options with you.

Outline of the 4 session online NVC Level 1 Foundation Training: Click here to view an outline of this NVC Foundation Training in its 4-session online format, taking place over four half days.

FACE TO FACE NVC LEVEL 1 FOUNDATION TRAININGS:   When held face to face these NVC foundation trainings are 2 days in length, taking place from 10am to 5.30pm on both days.  Usually the training takes place on the Saturday and Sunday of one weekend.  The total training time is 12 hours.

Outline of the 2-day face to face NVC Level 1 Foundation Training: Click here to view a pdf outline of this NVC Level 1 Foundation Training in its 2-day face to face format.

NB Attendees will receive a certificate of attendance upon completion of the NVC Foundation Training. The certificate does not authorise you to teach NVC others, but can be used as proof for professional development/CPD or for proof when attending further NVC trainings.

Comments from previous Nonviolent Communication Foundation Training course participants:

“This is the training I have done that has touched me the most. I truly believe I’ll carry these lessons for life!” – Livia B, Oct 2022

“Thanks very much for the course, I think this has been the most powerful learning I have ever had!” – C. French, Feb 2021

“As a beginner in NVC, taking Darren’s foundation course was so helpful. He really clarified the techniques for me through a combination of clearly explained theory, illustrated with examples from his own life, and role-playing and practice sessions to help build these new muscles. His online classes ran like clockwork and were packed with learning without being overwhelming.” – Suzanne K, Feb 2021

“The NVC foundation training course was the perfect opportunity for me to practice and embed the theory of NVC that I had learned from Marshall’s book. The mixture of theory with exercises and role plays, the moments provided for meditation and self-connection as well as the time taken by Daren to thoroughly answer any questions and concerns, made the course a deep and meaningful learning experience. The fact that the course was held online due to the Covid pandemic did not detract from the trust and connection that was built up over the two weekends which I feel was aided hugely by Daren’s authenticity, warmth and calm presence. The strong connections made between course members has enabled us to continue working together post-training to deepen our NVC practice.” – J Yeung, Sept 2020

“This online NVC course is perfect. I highly recommend Daren’s course, he perfectly balances NVC theory and practice and is flexible and attentive to the group’s needs. Our group was smaller than you might find in an “in person” setting which added to the intimacy and trust of the experience. I value this experience very highly, the lessons learned are lasting and a great introduction to the practice of NVC.” – Maria Sbiti, participant on Daren’s April 2020 online NVC foundation training

“I appreciated Daren’s anecdotes of putting this into practice, his realism, his honesty, his careful pairing and overwhelmingly positive responses, plenty of opportunity to practice, humour and a safe space to explore and be vulnerable.” – R Woolhouse, May 2019

“The NVC foundation training I did with Daren has been one of the most valuable workshops I’ve ever attended! I’ve become more empathic and more in tune with my needs/feelings. I still have a long way to go, but I see progress and it’s motivating.” – D Denisjonok, Oct 2018

“Amazing two days experience, with a lot of practice and in-depth material. Highly recommended!” – M Coman, April 2018

I’m amazed by how much has become clearer to me during this weekend. Such simple revelations but very necessary ones! – M Montague, Sept 2017

“Daren’s NVC foundation course was perfectly delivered with pure heart, grace, intelligence, wisdom and humour!” – S Daly, May 2017

Nonviolent Communication Training Course London 2“Daren provided the best demonstration I have seen and was highly instructional.” – A Peacock, April 2017

“NVC is a key player in a much-needed global shift in consciousness – from seeing other people as good and bad to seeing other people as simply trying to meet their needs. Experiencing guided practice on a course such as this is crucial to developing the skill – theory alone will not suffice.” – H Morgan, March 2017

“Daren’s training was well structured and really advanced my understanding of NVC theory and fluency for practice. Highly recommended to get you started in NVC!” – A Clare, Dec 2016

“Daren is a very experienced trainer. From day one I started putting the skills into practice. Life changing course!” – S Rehan, Jan 2016

“Daren is a fantastic trainer. I learned a lot of helpful information and loved the practice sessions. Every relationship I have has improved 10 fold as a result and I am a much happier person.” – S Nordmark, Nov 2015

“Perhaps the best spent 12 hours of my life.” – L Phillips, Nov 2015

“Thank you for a great workshop at the weekend! I am using this ‘new language’ and ‘new tool’ whenever I can throughout my day, and not just when someone is angry, but to try and really listen to people, hear their feelings and needs, and make a connection. My relationship with my husband has much improved, we are so much more connected, and it’s still work in progress, it’s great! I am so happy.” – J Elliot, July 2014

“Daren was clear, compassionate & knowledgeable. His passion for NVC really came across. I felt he really cared for us.” – R Lalor, March 2013

“This was amazing!! Thank you so much for the inspiration and the hope!! This is a beginning of something wonderful I think!” – A Heimersson, Sept 2012

“I keep getting a sense of something finely crafted – refined – precise – carefully positioned – no waste – everything with a clear purpose – a beautiful whole – a masterpiece even – dense and full and rich, and yet easy and fluid and flowing.” – S Johnson, March 2012

“I want to express my gratitude again for a very special weekend . . . as powerful and as rich in ancient truth and wisdom as the principles of NVC are (and I believe Marshall to be one of the great teachers of the last century along with the likes of Gandhi, Luther King and Mandela), what we received was as much the part that you played in teaching us. I was profoundly touched by your willingness to share your own struggles and successes with us. Also, your presentation and facilitation skills were clear, connecting and seamless. I also get how important this work is to you personally and that was impacting too.” – J. Kingston, Oct 2011

“This was a really enriching training programme. I was made to feel very comfortable and safe by the facilitators and the great group of co-trainees. Thank you – very inspiring!” – F Brooks, Oct 2011

“A wonderful course and a wonderful concept. I look forward to applying it.” – P Bijwe, May 2011

“Probably the best training (the most useful) I’ve attended in the past 10 years.” – S Warwick, May 2011

Recommended Preparation for Nonviolent Communication Level 1 Foundation Trainings:

We request that people prepare for foundation trainings by reading Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life, by Marshall Rosenberg (ISBN 1-892-005-03-4). You can read info and reviews about this book, as well as purchase it from Amazon.

Alternatively, you can watch the following 3 hour Youtube video of Marshall Rosenberg introducing Nonviolent Communication to an audience in San Francisco in the year 2000.

Nonviolent Communication Level Two Intermediate Trainings

The NVC foundation training is a level one training. If you wish to take your training further, to support you Daren De Witt has combined with four other London-based NVC trainers to create the NVC Level 2 Intermediate Training Programme (see below for more information about this programme). Daren facilitates three of the twelve level two trainings from this programme. These three trainings are the only post-foundation level training that Daren is offering, as he is otherwise focused on Identity Constellations workshops, which help us to explore and heal from the impact of our unmet needs on our development from the commencement of our lives onwards.

For other post-foundation NVC trainings, please visit either nvc-uk.com or cnvc.org.

What is the NVC Level 2 Intermediate Training Programme?

The NVC Level 2 Intermediate training programme consists of 12 trainings across the course of a year, one training per month. Each training is 6 hours in length, taking place over one day or two half days. We have focused on making the programme as flexible as possible. Each training stands alone, so you can attend as few or as many of the trainings as you wish. The twelve trainings repeat each year, in effect creating a cycle. So, you can start at any point during the year and following the training programme through to completion for yourself the following year. You can also attend any trainings you miss during one year in the following year.

The trainings are facilitated by five London-based certified NVC trainers. Each trainer is facilitating approx two trainings from the programme. So you will be able to enjoy the individual perspective, understanding and specialism of each trainer. We hope you will enjoy the richness of the themes and trainer input that this programme offers.

“I find these trainings so enriching and empowering. They have also given me the opportunity to meet people in other ways, and I am very grateful for this.” – Hannah, March 2023

Intention

To deepen your understanding and experience of NVC in theory and practice. Sustained input over the course of a year will support you to integrate and embody NVC more fully in your life.

Pre-requisite

Participants will be expected to have completed a NVC Level 1 Foundation Training, or equivalent. This will ensure a common foundation for intermediate/level 2 engagement and practice.

Facilitated by five London-based certified NVC trainers

NVC and Anger

Date: Sat 3rd & Sun 4th August 2024.  9.30am-1pm UK time on both days.

Location: Online using Zoom.

Anger is a powerful and widespread emotion in our culture and NVC has a unique approach to it.  In NVC we define it as a ‘life-alienated emotion’.  The NVC approach to anger differs from the basic NVC model, including an extra step!

During this NVC Level 2 Intermediate Training we will explore how to connect with our anger and ensure that it is expressed in a life affirming way. We will understand the range of feelings that often underlie anger.  Finally, we will look at how we can connect with other people when they are angry, either with us or with someone else.

The day will be focused on practice, using examples from your own life.

Prerequisite

This workshop is part of the NVC Level 2 Intermediate Training Programme (see above for more info).  Participants will be expected to have completed a NVC Level 1 Foundation Training, or equivalent.  This will ensure a common foundation for intermediate/level 2 engagement and practice.

Comments from previous participants on this training

“Daren, thank you for all you gave to this NVC and Anger workshop. I’m giving gratitude for the sense I felt of having been in a space held and shaped by care, focus, listening, expertise, warmth, patience, acceptance and for the invitation I felt was offered to engage, explore, grow and connect.” – A Edgar, Aug 2023

“The anger workshop was incredibly useful.  Daren guided us through the theory and practice in a very supportive way.  And I left having a much greater level of competence and sense of competence in my ability to handle a challenging emotion.  Thank you Daren.” – Phillipa B., Aug 2022

“I really enjoyed Daren’s recent online workshop on anger. His vast experience of both NVC and Anger Management shone through, giving me a huge sense of trust and reassurance that it was safe to start to explore a delicate and complex topic… Through Daren’s humble demeanor and gentle facilitation style I felt safe enough to be honest about my experiences with anger, embrace my vulnerability around the topic and to start the process of examining and unpicking how I can change my approach to expressing and receiving anger… I gained some useful insights that have already had a positive impact on how I communicate within my personal relationships. There’s still a lot of work for me to do but I felt Daren’s workshop was a really useful place to start.” – Martha B., Aug 2021
