“Thank you for this training that was tender, helpful and profound.” – C Cunden, February 2019

“The NVC foundation training I did with Daren has been one of the most valuable workshops I’ve ever attended! I’ve become more empathic and more in tune with my needs/feelings. I still have a long way to go, but I see progress and it’s motivating.” – D Denisjonok, Oct 2018

“Amazing two days experience, with a lot of practice and in-depth material. Highly recommended!” – M Coman, April 2018

Nonviolent Communication Training Course London 2

“Daren provided the best demonstration I have seen and was highly instructional.” – A Peacock, April 2017

“NVC is a key player in a much-needed global shift in consciousness – from seeing other people as good and bad to seeing other people as simply trying to meet their needs. Experiencing guided practice on a course such as this is crucial to developing the skill – theory alone will not suffice.” – H Morgan, March 2017

“Daren’s training was well structured and really advanced my understanding of NVC theory and fluency for practice. Highly recommended to get you started in NVC!” – A Clare, Dec 2016

“Daren is a very experienced trainer. From day one I started putting the skills into practice. Life changing course!” – S Rehan, Jan 2016

“Daren is a fantastic trainer. I learned a lot of helpful information and loved the practice sessions. Every relationship I have has improved 10 fold as a result and I am a much happier person.” – S Nordmark, Nov 2015

“Perhaps the best spent 12 hours of my life.” – L Phillips, Nov 2015

“Thank you for a great workshop at the weekend! I am using this ‘new language’ and ‘new tool’ whenever I can throughout my day, and not just when someone is angry, but to try and really listen to people, hear their feelings and needs, and make a connection. My relationship with my husband has much improved, we are so much more connected, and it’s still work in progress, it’s great! I am so happy.” – J Elliot, July 2014

“Daren was clear, compassionate & knowledgeable. His passion for NVC really came across. I felt he really cared for us.” – R Lalor, March 2013

“This was amazing!! Thank you so much for the inspiration and the hope!! This is a beginning of something wonderful I think!” – A Heimersson, Sept 2012

“I keep getting a sense of something finely crafted – refined – precise – carefully positioned – no waste – everything with a clear purpose – a beautiful whole – a masterpiece even – dense and full and rich, and yet easy and fluid and flowing.” – S Johnson, March 2012

“I want to express my gratitude again for a very special weekend . . . as powerful and as rich in ancient truth and wisdom as the principles of NVC are (and I believe Marshall to be one of the great teachers of the last century along with the likes of Gandhi, Luther King and Mandela), what we received was as much the part that you played in teaching us. I was profoundly touched by your willingness to share your own struggles and successes with us. Also, your presentation and facilitation skills were clear, connecting and seamless. I also get how important this work is to you personally and that was impacting too.”  – J. Kingston, Oct 2011

“Probably the best training (the most useful) I’ve attended in the past 10 years.” – S Warwick, May 2011

Recommended Preparation for Nonviolent Communication Foundation Trainings:

We request that people prepare for foundation trainings by reading Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life, by Marshall Rosenberg (ISBN 1-892-005-03-4). You can read info and reviews about this book, as well as purchase it from Amazon via the link on the right. Or you can purchase it from Watkins bookshop on 19 Cecil Court, central London, WC2N 4EZ (near Leceister Square tube).

Alternatively, you can watch the following 3 hour Youtube video of Marshall Rosenberg introducing Nonviolent Communication to an audience in San Francisco in the year 2000.

Nonviolent Communication Post-Foundation Trainings

At post-foundation level, currently Daren is offering two of the ten days of training on the NVC London Intermediate Training Programme – see below for more details. Apart from this, Daren has been focusing on exploring the deeper layers of identity and personality that often block us from a straightforward and authentic communication of our needs. This has led Daren to the process of Identity Constellations and he is currently offering monthly workshops to explore the deeper layers within you using this method. Go to the Identity Constellations Workshops page for more information about this. Daren also offers one to one NVC coaching and one to one counselling. Contact Daren to discuss this option.

The NVC London Intermediate Training Programme

Daren De Witt has collaborated with four other London-based certified NVC trainers to create for you the NVC London Intermediate-Level Training Programme. The programme consists of 10 days of training across the course of a year, approx one day per month. Each training stands alone, so you can attend as few or as many of the days as you wish. Each of the five certified NVC trainers is facilitating two training days from the programme. So you will be able to enjoy the individual perspective, understanding and specialism of each trainer. We hope you will enjoy the richness of the themes and the variety of the trainer input that this programme offers.

Intention: To deepen your understanding and experience of NVC in theory and practice. Sustained input over the course of a year will support you to integrate and embody NVC more fully in your life.

Pre-requisite: Participants will be expected to have completed a two day foundation training in NVC, or equivalent. This will ensure a common foundation for intermediate level engagement and practice.

Facilitated by five London-based certified NVC trainers: Daren De Witt, Tracy Seed, Ceri Buckmaster, Cathe Burke and Carolyn Davies.

1. Exploring empathy and empathy collision with NVC

Date: 9th February 2019   NB. This training is likely to be repeated in the early months of 2020.
Location: 10 Church Crescent, Hackney, London E9 7DL
Led by Daren De Witt

Empathy is one of the most important needs that we humans have – to be able to share our joys and sorrows with another person and know that they have been received and understood. NVC makes a huge contribution to the understanding and practice of empathy.

On this intermediate level NVC training day we will explore the theme of empathy more deeply. Themes covered will include:
– Self-empathy meditation
– How we connect with ourselves when we make mistakes, exploring and practicing the concepts and dynamics of the ‘inner educator’ and ‘inner chooser’ as defined by Marshall Rosenberg.
– Typical responses to others that aren’t empathic.
– Empathy collision, which occurs when we and another are in pain to the extent that neither of us is able to hear or empathise with the other person. We will look at ways you can remedy this situation.

PRICES:
Individuals: £80 (If you are paying for the training from your own pocket)
Organisations:
Small charity = £100 (If you work for a charity with 15 or fewer employees and they will pay for the training);
Large charity or Public sector = £120 (If you work for a public sector organisation, such as a local council or the NHS, or you work for a charity with 16 or more employees, and they will pay for the training);
Private sector = £150 (If you work for a profit making company and they will pay for the training).
Concessions available: Please dialogue with Daren if any of these prices would prevent you from coming.

TO BOOK ON THIS TRAINING: Please email Daren De Witt at nvcresolutions[at]gmail.com, or fill in the form on the contact page of this website.

3. NVC and power: beyond blame and shame

Date: 9th March 2019  NB. This training is likely to be repeated in the early months of 2020.
Location: London
Led by Ceri Buckmaster

Our aim on this training is to explore individual, collective and structural power and ways you can use it to support yourself and your community.

We will also explore access to structural power and how variations in this access can reduce authenticity and authentic communication, and to practice intervening in difficult situations using ‘scary honesty’ and without getting stuck in the cycle of blame and shame.

At the end of this session, you will have reflected on your choices for ways of using your power and will have gained some practical skills to intervene authentically and expansively, without blame and shame.

The session will involve reflection, discussion, practice and role play.

PRICES: £80 to £150. Concessions available

3. Saying no with courage and care – responding to requests and demands

Date: 6th April 2019
Location: London
Led by Cath Burke

Would you like to find a way of saying an empowered “No” whilst maintaining your relationships with others? Would you love to have access to more choice in your life when requests or demands come your way?

Most of us have been educated to stifle our “No”, believing we will hurt others or be abandoned, so we end up going along with things when we don’t really want to. Or instead bark out a “No!” like a sergeant major, even if we want to say “Yes” had we been asked differently. Both these reactions come at a cost to our relationships.

Nonviolent Communication helps us reach beneath the surface of our “No” to discover a creative and dynamic way of responding with courage and care in any moment.

On this day you’ll be supported to take away skills to:
– say “No” with courage and care
– transcend reactivity and develop a sense of inner space and choice
– listen to your body when experiencing resistance to what someone wants you to do

The day will include an invitation to explore this theme somatically in a light-hearted way through up to 90 minutes of movement and dance.

PRICES: £80 to £150. Concessions available

For more information and to book visit: https://nvc-uk.com – Saying “No”

4. Cultivating self empathy and self compassion with NVC

Date: 11th May 2019
Location: 10 Church Crescent, Hackney, London E9 7DL
Led by Tracy Seed

Do you have an inner critique or beliefs that stop you from fully meeting your needs with care? Would you like to find a way to transform this? On this one-day training, we dive into the world of our inner being. The focus is to deepen our understanding of the language our mind, emotions and body speaks.

You will explore self-empathy through experiential exercises which include: listening, discussion, meditation and contemplation; increasing our somatic awareness through movement and dance (employing the system of Biodanza) to support a compassionate embracing of yourself. You will discover what prevents you from taking the actions to meet your needs fully. You will translate your inner judgments through empathic connection, presence and understanding – embracing self-compassion to restore your inner balance.

This training includes: teaching around the neurology of emotion and 90 minutes of Biodanza.

PRICES: £80 to £150. Concessions available

For more information and to book visit: https://nvc-uk.com – Cultivating Self-empathy

5. The living energy of needs: transforming the pain of unmet needs

Date: 15th June 2019
Location: 10 Church Crescent, Hackney, London E9 7DL
Led by Carolyn Davies

Drawing on the work of one of the current leading international NVC trainers, Robert Gonzales, this workshop will explore transformative ways of relating to unmet needs. We’ll be adding a process called “Differentiation” to the practice – an approach that supports getting some distance from the stories we tell ourselves, that often leave us stuck and in pain.

On this one-day training, we will use experiential exercises and examples from our own lives to:
– Uncover the stories that keep us stuck.
– Bring curiosity, compassion and kindness to the parts of us that are in pain.
– Transform our pain into the richness and beauty.
– Dwell in our hearts true yearnings.

PRICES: £80 to £150. Concessions available

For more information and to book visit: https://nvc-uk.com – Living Energy of Needs – unmet needs

6. Transforming anger and shame with NVC

Date: 3rd August 2019
Location: 10 Church Crescent, Hackney, London E9 7DL
Led by Daren De Witt

Anger and shame are two powerful and widespread emotions in our culture and NVC has a unique approach to them. In NVC we define them as ‘life-alienated emotions’. During this day we will explore each of these emotions to understand them more fully and learn how to transform them both into ‘life-connected emotions’.

The NVC approach to anger differs from the basic NVC model, including an extra step! We will explore how to connect with our anger and ensure that it is expressed in a life affirming way. We will understand the range of feelings that often underlie anger. Finally, we will look at how we can connect with other people when they are angry, either with us or with someone else.

Whilst expressions of anger are often very visible, shame is a more hidden, almost evasive emotion, yet it is no less prevalent than anger in our culture. We will explore why it is so elusive and the three ways that we disconnect from it, as well as how we can transform shame into feelings which serve us and others better.

The day will be focused on practice, using examples from your own life.

PRICES:
Individuals: £80 (If you are paying for the training from your own pocket)
Organisations:
Small charity = £100 (If you work for a charity with 15 or fewer employees and they will pay for the training);
Large charity or Public sector = £120 (If you work for a public sector organisation, such as a local council or the NHS, or you work for a charity with 16 or more employees, and they will pay for the training);
Private sector = £150 (If you work for a profit making company and they will pay for the training).
Concessions available: Please dialogue with Daren if any of these prices would prevent you from coming.

To book on this training, please email Daren De Witt at nvcresolutions[at]gmail.com, or fill in the form on the contact page of this website.

7. The living energy of needs: moving from protection to connection

Date: 9th September 2019
Location: 10 Church Crescent, Hackney, London E9 7DL
Led by Carolyn Davies

Drawing on the work of one of the current leading international NVC trainers, Robert Gonzales, on this workshop we will explore the theme of moving from from protection to connection. We will be exploring relational aspects – the space between us – Roberts’s “Dyad Practice”.

We will use experiential exercises and examples from our own lives to:
– explore how protective structures function
– bring curiosity, compassion and kindness to stories and judgements about ourselves and others
– practice embodied awareness of the living energy of needs.

PRICES: £80 to £150. Concessions available

For more information and to book visit: https://nvc-uk.com – Living Energy of Needs – from protection to connection

8. Me, myself and I: self empathy and our inner critic

Date: 5th October 2019
Location: London – to be confirmed
Led by Cath Burke

Many of us come to NVC looking for a way to survive, improve, enjoy our relationships. I know I did. Then I discovered that the most important relationship is the one with myself. This is because when we relate empathically to ourselves we are empowered to calm our reactivity and take responsibility for meeting our needs. When we understand and acknowledge our needs we naturally have more inner resource to face challenging conversations and relationships ‘out there’.

This day will draw on Sarah Peyton’s research into NVC and neuroscience. You’ll be supported to take away skills to:
– precisely name your feelings and needs in relation to a stimulus
– identify self-sabotaging behaviours and core beliefs
– get familiar with different parts of your inner life, such as the critic, the self, the witness
– find your unique empathic voice that’s able to regulate your nervous system

Be warned! Relating to yourself with compassion could lead to a lack of inclination to judge yourself and others and an inability to worry. You may find yourself acting spontaneously rather than from fear-based habits and even enjoying each moment as it comes!

There’ll be an invitation to explore this theme somatically through up to 90 minutes of movement and dance.

PRICES: £80 to £150. Concessions available

For more information and to book visit: https://nvc-uk.com – Me, Myself and I

9. NVC approaches to formal and informal mediation

Date: 2nd November 2019
Location: London – to be confirmed
Led by Ceri Buckmaster

This day will give you practical tools to mediate between other people. You will find it useful whether you are a professional mediator, or whether you find yourself mediating informally between the people you know – your family or friends, or even informally in the role that you occupy at work.

PRICES: £80 to £150. Concessions available

To find out more information and to book contact Ceri via her website: http://www.ceribuckmaster.co.uk/

10. Practical tools for building NVC fluency

Date: 7th December 2019
Location: London – exact locaton to be confirmed
Led by Tracy Seed

Have you been practising NVC for a while and find that your longing for ease and flow with the 4 step NVC prcoess? Do you want to feel more natural in the way that you speak NVC? If so this one day course may be for you!

On this day we will review the whole NVC model using the “13 step dance floor”. The “dance floor” approach was created by Gina Lawrie and Brigette Belgrave. It involves placing A4 sized cards on the floor, which represent the basic elements of NVC such as ‘feelings’ and ‘needs’. You choose which card to step on next as you practice communicating in a role play scenario. Stepping through your NVC expression in this way helps to increase your awareness and fluency in an embodied way.

We will:
– Practice using culturally and socially attuned language to connect with others authentically
– Explore the connection with our own integrity and values in dialogue with people
– Expand our awareness of nonverbal communication
– Discover more about the way we embody nonviolent consciousness
– Work with breath, tension, flow, gesture, tone and pace; passion and grounded presence.

The day includes around 90 minutes of the empathic nonverbal communication dance system – Biodanza.

PRICES: £80 to £150. Concessions available

For more information and to book visit: https://nvc-uk.com – Practical NVC fluency
